Why did this mission begin?
Family Legacy Memoirs was created to provide people of color with a dedicated space to preserve and honor their family legacy—told in their own words and shaped by their lived experiences. Too often, we move through life without pausing to reflect on and document our personal stories, meaningful milestones, achievements, struggles, and the rich histories that connect generations.
Our mission became deeply personal in 2021 when my granddaughter pointed to a heart-shaped picture frame on the shelf and asked her uncle, “Who is that lady?” She didn’t realize that “that lady” was her great-great-grandmother—the matriarch and guiding spirit of the generations before her. In that moment, we recognized how easily stories can fade when they are not preserved.
From that day forward, we committed ourselves to creating a private and confidential space where individuals can document their life stories, legacies, accomplishments, lessons learned, and even their own obituary—on their own terms. Each narrative is shared in your voice, safeguarded with care, and treasured by your loved ones whenever you choose to reveal it.
Your story matters. Your legacy deserves to be remembered.
